ILR researches the creation and application of visual learning objects where content remains the focus, not the interface. Research highlights the positive results found when students are provided access to intuitive learning resources at a time, place and pace to suit their individual learning needs.
Below are a selection of resources to support various programmes, including Paramedic Science, Building Construction, Primary Science and Education Innovation.
Contact John.Sumpter@uwe.ac.uk to discuss how intuitive learning resources can be created and embedded within your practice, or follow this link to find out more.
Basic Airway Management
This resource utilises an intuitive interface providing users with access to a range of short videos detailing basic airway management procedures.
Stepwise Approach to Airway Management
Developing further the concept of utilising an intuitive interface. This resource provides learners with a learning pathway, allowing users to navigate a number of decisions, before accessing a range of short videos detailing the Stepwise Approach to Airway Management.
Sketching and Layout
The resource was created to provide students with access to learning videos and information that covered the basics of sketching and layout. This resource allowed students to start their first year with a greater understanding of the fundamentals, expediting their progress towards more advanced learning objectives.
Collaborative Learning (Technologies & Spaces)
This resource was created as part of a 'flipped classroom' approach to the delivery of a workshop entitled Collaborative Learning (technologies and spaces). Participants would access the resource before the face to face workshop. During the face to face session, participants would discuss how enabling collaborative and social learning, can impact on the learning experience of students. The results found participants showed a greater level of engagement in the face to face session, and enabled more in-depth conversations to take place.
The Design Centre
The Intuitive Resources project is devised to provide non-textual, visual learning resources to embed within the curriculum. The project focused on developing a series of high definition (HD) videos that could be accessed by mobile/smart-phone technologies. The curriculum content was designed around key technical aspects that were necessary to the successful completion of projects.
